Ok, I know this post will probably offend those that are adamant about the “Christmas” thing, but here goes. I heard people complain about using Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings instead of using Merry Christmas. I always thought these greetings were meant to wish the person a joyous holiday season which included a happy new year. Could it be that the people that are concerned with the Merry Christmas don’t want to wish you a happy new year, too? Maybe they want you to have the same crappy year just like the previous one. I say Happy Holidays because it includes the Merry Christmas (or whatever religious holiday you celebrate with Christmas being the most popular) and the Happy New Year. I want everyone to have a happy time all year not just on one day. People seem to sweat the small things while letting the big ones run wild, like how our country is almost bankrupt. Many people have their own God and not all celebrate Christmas. Would you be offended if someone wished you Happy Tabaski (muslim) or Merry Diwali (Hindu) or Happy Hannakkuh (Jewish). These are their “Christmas”. Our country was founded on freedom of religion. Not everyone celebrates Christmas so therefore, some extend the Happy Holidays to people trying to include whatever religion they are and what they celebrate. The term is used so as not to “offend” some folks but it apparently does just that with some Christians. I am not offended by it in the least as I am glad that my fellow man took the time to greet me during this joyous and festive season no matter what religion or beliefs one may have. So, Happy Holidays to ALL of my friends regardless of your beliefs and may the new year bring you peace and prosperity
Happy ChristHannakaTabaskiDiwaliNewYear to all.
