email - helpful or hoax ?

The over-abundance of emails we receive giving “advice” to us all. However, most are false or mixed with inaccuracies and some could actually harm you.

1. Cough while having a heart attack – this is false and can actually make the attack worse. Snopes.com

2. Aspirin on bedside table for heart attacks. – aspirin can help with stroke, heart attack, etc but only for some. the email mixes fact and fiction. see here for actual info – snopes.com

3. Internet petitions – it would be nice if this was all we needed to do but internet petitions lack the individual information needed to make it “official” and sometimes there are so many that get sent with the same names on it or never get sent at all that they are useless. Write a letter, sign it, include an official petition with signatures and snail mail it. check it out here snopes.com

4. Home remedies – may or may not help, research in progress snopes.com

5. Money from Microsoft – and any other business such as applebees, nike, etc. = If it’s too good to be true, it probably is. I still get these. You will not get money by forwarding emails, etc. Read it here: snopes.com

6. Social networks cancel you – facebook, myspace, yahoo, etc will not cancel you if you fail to forward emails. it is malarkey. read here: snopes.com
